I usually do Manicure Monday but I haven't wore polishes in couple of weeks. It started with a simple cold that lead to laryngitis. Other than being on different types of medication, my body was very weak. I just went to work and came home to sleep for more than two weeks. For that reason, I haven't wore polishes but I still want to post. I wanted to find something manicure related but I couldn't. I decided to review Esum sponges.

I got these products from the Blogger Preview at The Makeup Show LA 2016. I already reviewed MustaeV Maxi Volume Mascara (top middle), Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Lip in Rust (top right), and Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (top right). For this post, I will review the beauty sponge on the middle left.

Thoughts: I'm a huge fan of sponges. I prefer them over brushes. Brushes tend to leave a streak on my face while applying foundation. For that reason, I was excited to try this product.
It comes with two sponges.
Here's a closer look at the sides.
Here's a closer look at the tip.
Here's a closer look at the rounded end.

Now for my overall opinion... First of all, I like that the sponge is shape differently than what is in the market. I'm so used to round sponges with one end being defined and the other round. To be honest, I'm intrigued that it's different. I like unique things because it stands out. It's not the norm. With that said, the flat sides make it easy to pat the foundation and concealer. The flat sides close to the tip makes it easy to reach hard to reach places like around the nostril, under eyes, and so on. The flat sides close to the round end is for areas that are bigger like cheeks, forehead, and so on. I also noticed when I use the sponge, my thumb and middle finger grabs the sides and my index finger grabs the round end. It's so flat it makes it easy to grab and hold onto. Not only that, it doesn't roll while laying on the table. Secondly, I want to say it's lighter than most beauty sponges because it's half the size. To be honest, I cannot distinguish the weight. They all feel light in my hands. With that said, it's convenient and easy to use. I wet the sponge before using it. I've been using this for months and every single time I wet the sponge, it gets slightly bigger. From what I can tell, it barely soaks up water. It feels dry when I pat the sponge on my face. Because of the texture of the sponge, I barely squeeze water out. I use it as wet as possible. It feels better on the skin or at least for me. For that reason, I think you can use it dry but I haven't tried it. I like my sponges wet. I'm not 100% sure and there's no explanation on the website. If you can use the sponge dry, this will be great for makeup artist. It'll be very universal and easy to carry with you. The makeup artist doesn't have to look for water or any facial spray. Third, it really is easy to wash. Even though the sponge is black, you will see the foundation and concealer on it. Since it's compacted, it doesn't rip as easily as other beauty sponges out in the market. I did notice slight ripping at the tip since it's thinner. Compared to other beauty sponges, it wasn't bad. I have a tendency to rough wash it and they never last longer than a week. I've been using this more than couple of months and there's a small rip at the tip. I'm pretty impressed I must say! Lastly, I believe Beautyblender cost $20 for one sponge. You get two for the price of one. If you look at it that way, this is pretty decent. Plus, the quality of the sponge is better. It just doesn't soak up water.
